    Description

    Kitchen Volunteer – Help Prepare Meals for the Seattle Community with OSL Serves

    Join OSL Serves in preparing nutritious meals for individuals and communities across the Seattle area. Volunteers play a vital role in our kitchen, helping us create thousands of meals each day with care and compassion.

    This is a hands-on opportunity where you’ll work alongside our team to support meal preparation and food distribution efforts. Tasks may include making sandwiches, chopping produce, portioning ingredients, and assisting with general kitchen prep. Each day is a little different depending on donations and needs, making every shift unique and impactful.

    Our mission is simple: compassion on a plate.

    Volunteer Shifts:

    Shifts are typically available between 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

    (Flexible scheduling within that window depending on availability)

    Requirements & Reminders:

    • Must wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes
    • Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back; hair coverings required (baseball caps work well) Beards longer than an inch require beard nets
    • Scent-free environment (no perfumes or strongly scented products)
    • Wear comfortable clothing that covers shoulders and legs
    • Nut-free kitchen
    • Youth volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone (1 adult per 10 youth)

    Who Can Volunteer:

    • Individuals, students, and small groups
    • No prior kitchen experience needed
    • Volunteers under 18 are welcome with appropriate supervision

    How to Get Involved:

    Please sign up through Idealist or reach out directly to coordinate your shift. We’re happy to help you find a time that works and get you prepared for your first visit.
