Museum Exhibit Docent - Middletown
Details
Description
We are seeking museum docents on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to showcase our historic houses and exhibitions in Middletown. Docents will monitor the flow of patrons through the self-guided spaces. Whether you are social or shy, we have the perfect fit for you!
The Monmouth County Historical Association owns and operates two neighboring historic houses in Middletown: Marlpit Hall (137 Kings Hwy, Middletown, NJ 07748) and the Taylor-Butler House (127 Kings Hwy, Middletown, NJ 07748). Marlpit Hall houses MCHA's award-winning exhibit Beneath the Floorboards: Whispers of the Enslaved at Marlpit Hall which examines the lives of the enslaved individuals who resided at the property and what the institution of slavery looked like in the county. Taylor-Butler house currently hosts a series of rotating galleries displaying some of the many paintings and portraits found in MCHA's vast collection.
Docent shifts are available Friday-Sunday and are from 1:00-4:00 PM. You will be able to select when and where you would like to volunteer.
In addition to our two sites in Middletown, MCHA also owns and operates 2 other historic house museums in the county, our headquarters museum, and interprets the Holmes-Hendrickson House in Holmdel. Volunteers will be able to volunteer at all MCHA sites!
We hope you consider joining our fantastic family of MCHA volunteers, where you can be a part of history!
