3 Volunteers Needed! Intake Housing Counselors at an Unhoused Assistance Event 3/19/26!

Thank you for considering SWB Delivers Outreach for this volunteer opportunity at an upcoming event working with the unhoused in San Francisco on March 19th, 2026!! We are seeking 3 Volunteer Intake Housing Counselors to help us run an event at Nextdoor Navigation Center in San Francisco (1001 Polk St). We are looking for volunteers to join us for the day, meet our team and spend a few hours helping us speak with unhoused individuals on site. You will receive brief training in advance via Zoom just before the live event. Our staff will be present the entire time to oversee and support you during the event. The staff at Nextdoor is eager for our event and will be there for support and to ensure our process runs smoothly as well.

What will you be doing specifically? As an Intake Housing Counselor you will spend 10 to 15 minutes with approximately 15-20 unhoused individuals separately. You will gather information from each person that will be directly used to aid in securing their future needs for housing assistance. You will meet privately with each person, asking a series of questions related to their current circumstances. You will capture your "intake" information directly on each person.

Date, Time, Location: March 19, 2026, from 9:30am until approximately 3pm, Nextdoor Navigation Center at 1001 Polk Street, San Francisco

Training: Offered via Zoom call one to two day prior to the event; team will email/call you to confirm and answer any advance questions you may have.

Qualifications: A desire to help the unhoused in San Francisco directly!! You care about the unhoused and are looking for a way to donate a few hours to help those in need directly. You have a willingness to listen, create a kind/supportive environment for each individual as you conduct a confidential intake (interview) with each person who is experiencing homelessness.

Support and Safety: Nextdoor offers a safe environment for guests and their staff will manage the flow and registration of individuals who will speak with our team and volunteers.
