    Job Readiness Program for Adults with Down Syndrome

    GiGi’s Playhouse is a Down syndrome achievement center dedicated to increasing positive awareness of Down syndrome and providing free, purposeful programming that empowers individuals with Down syndrome to achieve their goals and thrive in their communities! We are looking for volunteers for our Career Development Program, GiGi Professional.

    GiGi Professional: Volunteer

    GiGi Professional is a job-readiness program for adults with Down syndrome focused on building professional skills, confidence, independence & workplace readiness. We are looking for enthusiastic, dependable volunteers who want to make a meaningful impact while helping our participants develop skills they can use in professional and community settings!

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Support participants during job-readiness lessons, activities, and hands-on projects
    • Help participants practice professional communication, workplace etiquette, teamwork, and technology skills
    • Provide one-on-one or small-group support when needed
    • Assist with activities related to career exploration, certifications, and workplace preparation
    • Encourage participants to build confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills
    • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants
    • Assist instructors with program setup, organization, and other classroom needs
    • Be kind & have fun

    Qualifications:

    • Enthusiastic, patient & dependable
    • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
    • Comfortable working as part of a team & taking direction
    • Professional, positive & encouraging attitude
    • Must be willing to complete & pass a background check
    • No prior experience working with individuals with Down syndrome is required—training & guidance provided

    Schedule:

    GiGi Professional meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11AM–3PM. Volunteers are welcome to commit to one or both days, depending on their availability. The semester runs from 9/8-12/17.

    This is a wonderful opportunity to build meaningful relationships, gain experience in an inclusive educational setting, and help adults with Down syndrome reach their professional goals. Most importantly, we’re looking for volunteers who believe in acceptance, inclusion, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive!
