    Description

    Location: In person - Sacramento, CA

    Duration: 2 weeks, 20 hours/week (Summer 2026)

    SCOPE OF WORK:

    The InspiHER summer program operates at two separate school sites, each running for ten consecutive weekdays (Monday–Friday). Daily sessions typically take place 8:30 AM–12:30 PM on campus.

    Each site serves up to 25 Afghan high school girls, supported by up to five returning Peer Mentors who help lead activities and model leadership. The curriculum is designed to empower Afghan girls, build confidence, and provide a safe, culturally responsive space for learning and growth. Across the ten sessions, students also participate in two field trips that extend learning beyond the classroom.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support daily classroom activities, workshops, and group discussions
    • Help facilitate a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment
    • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
    • Provide consistent encouragement and mentorship throughout the program
    • Participate in and help supervise two field trips
    • Maintain a reliable and consistent presence across assigned program days
    • Model respectful, supportive, and professional behavior at all times

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Availability for most (preferably all) program days and full daily sessions (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
    • Ability to commit to one assigned school site for program continuity
    • Reliable transportation to and from the program location
    • Interest in youth development, education, or community engagement
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers
    • Sensitivity to and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly Afghan communities
    • Previous experience working with youth (preferred but not required)
    • Must be interested in continuing service as an REP Youth Mentor Volunteer in the Fall 2026 semester (and/or Spring 2027)
