    Description

    York Region Educational Services (YRES) is dedicated to leading community volunteerism as a proud recipient of Canada's Volunteer Award, through providing a wide range of volunteer positions in communities in the Greater Vancouver Area, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, and Alberta. We are looking for a Community Outreach Volunteer who is passionate about giving back to their community, enjoys making a tangible impact through organization and inventory support, and thrives in a collaborative, social work environment.

    The Community Outreach Volunteer is responsible for:

    • Conducting in-person outreach to local businesses by going door-to-door to share information about the event and invite participation or support
    • Making outbound phone calls to businesses and community contacts to promote the event and follow up on outreach conversations
    • Clearly communicating event details and goals, and the ways businesses can get involved (e.g., sponsorship, donations, attendance)
    • Building positive relationships with local business owners and staff to support long-term community partnerships
    • Speaking knowledgeably about YRES's mission and impact
    • Other tasks as required

    Locations:

    In-person (3100 Steeles Ave E)

    Virtual (completed on your own time)

    Date & Time: Ongoing - Weekly

    Shift: Weekdays 9am - 5pm

    Who We're Looking For:

    • Minimum age: 14
    • Able to independently arrive to work on time
    • Passionate about volunteering and excited to learn
    • Can commit to scheduled time of the shift
    • Fluency in English
    • Highly organized, detail-orientated and capable of managing multiple tasks
    • Strong in interpersonal skills
