    Description

Cleanup at Bird Alliance of Oregon’s NE 82nd Ave Property

Join SOLVE and the Bird Alliance of Oregon to help clean up the piece of land that will one day become the new Wildlife Care Center! The event kicks off at 9am with a quick welcome, tool distribution, and a safety speech.

About the Site: In early 2025, the Bird Alliance of Oregon acquired a new property on NE 82nd Avenue, which will be the home for the new Wildlife Care Center, a nature park, an outdoor classroom, community solar array, and native habitat for wildlife. The 12.5-acre property is already visited by lots of local wildlife including Lazuli Buntings, Savanna Sparrows, Western Bluebirds, and Western Meadowlarks. The site, like many other undeveloped urban plots, is a former landfill, used as a rock quarry and later filled with rubble from the construction of I-205. Bird Alliance of Oregon has advocated for decades on policies to remediate brownfield sites like this one and put them back to productive use. Now, the organization will be part of the solution by turning this open space into a destination that truly benefits the community, the local environment, and the region’s wildlife. The habitat restoration work is funded by grants from the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) and Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD).
