Details
Description
Calling all history lovers! We are looking for amazing volunteers to help serve as museum docents to showcase our exhibits at our Main Museum (70 Court St, Freehold, NJ 07728) Covenhoven House (150 W Main St, Freehold, NJ 07728). Docents will monitor the flow of patrons through the self-guided at both sites.
Our Headquarters Museum currently hosts the exhibit Storm of Revolution: Monmouth at War, the Association's second exhibition celebrating the nation's semiquincentennial and creates an immersive experience to help visitors understand Monmouth County's role in the American Revolution.
The Monmouth County Historical Association owns and operates the Covenhoven House as a historic house museum. Choices: The Covenhoven Family and the Battle of Monmouth exhibit examines the choices made by Elizabeth Covenhoven, Yana, Cyro and others leading up to the arrival of British General Sir Henry Clinton for the Battle of Monmouth in June 1778. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the iconic Covenhoven House, which has recently undergone major restoration work.
Docent shifts are available currently Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:00-4:00pm.
In addition to our two Freehold sites, MCHA also owns and operates three other historic house museums throughout the county and interprets the Holmes-Hendrickson House in Holmdel. As a docent volunteer you are able to volunteer at any of MCHA's historic sites while they are open.
We hope you consider joining our fantastic family of MCHA volunteers, where you can be a part of history!
