Do you want to help restore our local ecosystems? Then this project is for you! Join Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to remove invasive honeysuckle across Brookside Park. We will remove honeysuckle with handsaws and will apply herbicide to the remaining stump. Removing harmful invasive species will help prevent riverbank erosion, improve access to the waterway, and improve water quality. We will begin project instruction at 9:05am at the latest, so please be sure to find parking ahead of the start time.
Safety: We highly recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing and since we will be working on a slope, we require that volunteers wear closed-toed, sturdy shoes. Volunteers also must wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes in order to apply herbicide. We always recommend bringing a reusable bottle for water but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide all supplies, such as litter grabbers, gloves, and hand saws.
