    Volunteer Board Member- Treasurer

    Austin School of Furniture Foundation is a 501(c)(3) woodworking and furniture making nonprofit school located in Austin, Tx with a 5 person board of directors, full time Managing Director, and Executive Director looking for a new Treasurer!

    ASF serves hundreds of students per year with beginner to advanced in-person workshops, ranging from small projects that take several hours, to larger projects and courses that last several weeks. Our board of directors help us make high-quality arts and trade education accessible to learners of all backgrounds, while preserving the creative traditions and craftsmanship that define Austin’s maker culture. We believe woodworking is both an art form and a pathway to economic empowerment and community connection.

    The Board Treasurer of the Austin School of Furniture Foundation (ASFF) plays a critical role in overseeing the financial management and stewardship of the organization. The Treasurer works closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, and other stakeholders to ensure the fiscal health and sustainability of ASFF.

    Qualifications:

    • Solid understanding of financial management principles, practices, and accounting standards.
    • Experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance preferred.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
    • Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial record-keeping.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and fiduciary responsibilities or ability to learn.

    Time Commitment:

    The Board Treasurer position requires attendance at board meetings, finance committee meetings, and other relevant meetings or discussions. Additionally, the Treasurer should allocate time for financial

    analysis and reporting. The estimated time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month,

    depending on the organization's needs and financial activities.
