About the Role
This is a volunteer board role for an Older Adult Enrichment Board Member at The Healing Circle Foundation. The Older Adult Enrichment Board Member will help guide programs, partnerships, and outreach that support the wellness, connection, dignity, and quality of life of older adults in our communities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about active aging, community care, holistic wellness, and creating meaningful support for seniors and elders.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of programs and events that promote active aging, wellness, social connection, and enrichment for older adults.
- Help identify and build relationships with older adult centers, senior housing communities, nursing homes, community centers, healthcare providers, and wellness organizations.
- Assist with outreach to community partners serving older adults across NYC and surrounding areas.
- Contribute ideas for workshops, intergenerational events, wellness activities, support groups, and culturally responsive programming.
- Help raise awareness of the foundation’s services and mission within older adult communities.
- Participate in board discussions, planning sessions, and community engagement efforts.
- Support fundraising, partnership development, and advocacy efforts when appropriate.
- Offer insight on accessibility, inclusion, and respectful engagement with diverse aging populations.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in older adult wellness, active aging, community care, or senior services.
- Experience in nonprofit work, community outreach, healthcare, aging services, social services, or program development is preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to think creatively about enrichment, belonging, and support for older adults.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive community engagement.
- Willingness to collaborate with leadership and contribute time as a volunteer board member.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for the mission and values of The Healing Circle Foundation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Skills
- Background in older adult services, aging advocacy, social work, healthcare, wellness, or community-based programming.
- Public speaking or outreach experience.
- Familiarity with senior centers, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or elder support networks.
- Experience with event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit partnership development.
- Bilingual ability is a plus.
Pay range and compensation package
Volunteer board position with opportunities for mission involvement, leadership experience, community impact, and potential future stipends or commission-based opportunities tied to funded projects.
