Dear Applicant,
The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its project called Yiddishland California, based in San Diego, California, are looking for a Graphics Designer intern. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events. We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us in designing images for our social media, website, and other promotional and dissemination channels. The intern will be responsible for creating and assisting the YAAANA team with graphics content. No knowledge of the Yiddish language is required. Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes, as well as access to the YAAANA archives.
Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit. This internship is remote.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Create graphic content for our organization’s websites and social media.
- Designing printable marketing materials, such as leaflets and posters
- Assist the YAAANA team in creating graphics for educational materials
Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced graphic design skills, with knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Corel, Canva, Draw, Photoshop, or similar programs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong initiative and creativity.
Skills Development
- Interns will become proficient with multiple graphic design software programs.
- Interns will have completed pieces that can be added to their portfolio.
Estimated Duration
Full-time: preferably 8, minimum 6- week engagement with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, 270 hours total
Part-time: preferably 16, minimum 12-week engagement with a minimum commitment of 21 hours per week, 270 hours total
OPT: 21 hours per week, 270 hours total
Longer internships with a less demanding time commitment are available upon request.
If an intern wishes to receive academic credit, it is their responsibility to confirm eligibility and any approval requirements with their academic institution prior to starting the internship.
