    Description

Not happy about the direction our world is going? Sick of the boss getting rich while we struggle? Tired of corporations having all the power and dominating decisions on our islands—while our friends and family have to move away due the rising cost of everything?

If you want to learn how to organize and fight back, apply to UNITE HERE Local 5’s apprenticeship program. You can meet union leaders who have: organized their non-union workplaces, gone on strike, defeated multinational companies, won life-changing gains—and learn how they made it happen!

UNITE HERE Local 5 represents 10,000 members work in hotels, healthcare, and food service in Hawaii. We work for some of the largest and richest companies in the region and the world, including Marriott, Hilton, and Kaiser. Local 5 can give you the training to build the kind of collective power that is needed to put decisions back in the hands of workers. This apprenticeship will train you on basic and advanced organizing skills through shadowing and close work with our staff organizers.

Familiarity or experience in the service and hospitality industry or food service industry is a plus but not required. The desire to learn and grow is a must.
