    Description

Creshendo is a global, volunteer-led nonprofit working alongside migrant and refugee communities to build systems rooted in dignity, belonging, and community leadership.

We’re looking for a highly organized Board Governance Secretary to support our Board of Directors and help strengthen the organization’s governance as we continue to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit leadership, governance, strategy, or organizational management. You’ll work closely with our Board Chair and Executive Director, gaining firsthand experience in how nonprofit boards operate and how strategic decisions are documented and carried forward.

Whether you’re pursuing a career in consulting, business, public policy, nonprofit leadership, law, or operations, this role offers meaningful experience that is difficult to find early in a career.

    What You’ll Do

    • Attend Board meetings, typically held every other week, with occasional monthly meetings depending on the Board calendar
    • Prepare and maintain accurate Board meeting minutes
    • Organize Board agendas, resolutions, and governance documents
    • Maintain the Board’s governance records and document library
    • Track Board action items and follow up as needed
    • Support preparation for Board meetings and committee meetings
    • Help ensure governance documentation remains organized and up to date
    • Work closely with the Board Chair and Executive Director on governance-related priorities

    Who You Are

You might be a great fit if you:

    • Are highly organized and dependable
    • Enjoy creating structure and keeping projects organized
    • Have strong written communication skills
    • Can maintain confidentiality and professionalism
    • Are interested in nonprofit governance, leadership, or organizational strategy
    • Care about migration, refugee issues, or social impact

Experience with nonprofit governance is welcome but not required.

Because our work is grounded in community leadership and co-creation, we especially encourage applications from individuals with lived experience of migration or displacement, or those who have worked closely with migrant and refugee communities. We believe these perspectives strengthen our governance and decision making.

    Why Join Creshendo?

You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the governance of an international nonprofit during an exciting period of growth.

This role offers the opportunity to:

    • Learn how nonprofit Boards make strategic decisions
    • Build experience in governance and organizational leadership
    • Work alongside experienced nonprofit leaders
    • Strengthen your résumé with meaningful governance experience
    • Contribute to an organization working to improve outcomes for migrant and refugee communities around the world

    Time Commitment

Approximately 3 to 5 hours per month, including attendance at Board meetings.

    Fully remote.
