    Description

    Are you passionate about using your organizational, operational, and problem-solving skills to make a meaningful impact in your community? Step 1 Recovery Resources is seeking a dedicated volunteer Board Member to help strengthen the systems and processes that connect individuals with life-changing addiction treatment and recovery resources.

    This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in operations, project management, administration, healthcare, nonprofit leadership, business, or process improvement who want to use their expertise to support a mission that changes lives.

    The Board Member serves as a hands-on leader responsible for improving organizational processes, coordinating client intake workflows, maintaining accurate records, and strengthening relationships with treatment partners. This role combines strategic board governance with meaningful operational involvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead initiatives to improve organizational processes and operational efficiency.
    • Evaluate and streamline client intake, interview, and selection procedures.
    • Serve on the Network & Facility Committee by researching and visiting prospective treatment facilities and referral partners, providing recommendations to the Board.
    • Maintain accurate client tracking records and ensure every inquiry is documented from initial contact through final outcome.
    • Coordinate with treatment facility partners to obtain weekly progress updates for scholarship recipients and distribute reports to fellow board members.
    • Manage website monitoring schedules and ensure consistent volunteer coverage.
    • Participate in the rotating weekly schedule for responding to website inquiries, emails, and voicemail messages.
    • Approximately once every six weeks, oversee the complete client placement process, including:
      • Monitoring new inquiries
      • Conducting client interviews
      • Presenting candidates for board approval
      • Coordinating treatment placement
      • Arranging transportation when needed
      • Providing intake and waiver documentation to partner facilities
    • Interview prospective volunteers and future board members.
    • Maintain organized electronic client files, including interviews, intake documents, waivers, and facility invoices.

    Time Commitment

    • Attend bi-monthly board meetings.
    • Participate in committee meetings as needed.
    • Share responsibility for weekly communications on a rotating schedule.
    • Lead the client placement process approximately once every six weeks.
    • Average commitment: 5–10 hours per week, with occasional flexibility depending on client needs.
