    Description

Tough Poets Review is seeking a volunteer digital designer to help promote our growing biannual print-only literary journal. We will soon begin work on Issue 04 (Spring/Summer 2027) and we’re looking for someone with an eye for typography, composition, and visual storytelling who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in independent literary publishing. This position is especially well suited to students and those early in their design careers.

Primary responsibilities include designing Instagram slides and carousels to promote the journal, its contributors, upcoming events, and other publishing projects, as well as assisting with journal page layout. The volunteer will work closely with our editorial team to develop engaging visual content and contribute to the design and promotion of a maverick publication featuring poetry, fiction, essays, interviews, photography, and visual art.

Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Canva is helpful, along with a strong sense of typography and layout. An interest in contemporary literature, independent publishing, and experimental art and writing is a plus. Commitment is approximately five hours per week.

If interested, please send a brief note describing your background, interests, and relevant experience, along with samples of your work or a link to your portfolio, to hello@toughpoets.com.
