    Description

At PAX Learning Center, our work is rooted in a simple belief: education changes lives—and the details matter just as much as the big picture. As a Volunteer Executive Assistant, you’ll work closely with me, Alex, (the Executive Director) to help keep the organization moving forward smoothly, thoughtfully, and with purpose.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being a steady, behind-the-scenes force—someone who finds meaning in organization, communication, and helping others do their best work. Your support will directly impact our students, our team, and the programs that make PAX what it is. This is a hybrid role with flexibility built in.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    Be my right hand.

Help manage schedules, coordinate meetings, and handle logistics so I can stay focused on the work that matters most.

    Help tell our story.

Draft, edit, and refine emails, reports, and presentations that communicate our mission clearly and authentically to partners, donors, and the community.

    Keep things moving.

Attend meetings when needed, take clear notes, track action items, and help ensure follow-through across the team.

    Support growth and special projects.

Assist with events, strategic initiatives, and occasional “all-hands” projects that help PAX grow and improve.

    Bring order to the chaos.

Maintain digital (and occasional physical) files so information is easy to find and nothing important gets lost.

Be a warm point of contact.

Support communications on my behalf with kindness, professionalism, and a tone that reflects PAX’s values.

    Research and curiosity welcome.

Help gather information on topics that support our programs, partnerships, and long-term planning.

    Support leadership and governance.

Assist with preparing materials for board meetings and, when needed, help maintain communication with board members.

    What We’re Looking For:

You believe in access, second chances, and education.

You don’t just like the mission—you feel connected to it.

    You’re organized and reliable.

You enjoy keeping track of moving pieces and making sure nothing slips through the cracks.

    You communicate clearly and thoughtfully.

Whether writing an email or summarizing a meeting, you know how to get the point across with care.

    You’re independent but collaborative.

You can work on your own, ask good questions, and jump in where needed.

    Details matter to you.

You notice the small things—and you know they make a big difference.

    You’re open to learning.

You’re curious, adaptable, and interested in growing alongside the organization.
