    Description

    Board Member (Marketing & Communications)

Break Free: Mental Health, Healing & Hope for Survivors is seeking a thoughtful, strategic marketing or communications professional to serve on our Board of Directors. This role is ideal for someone who understands the power of messaging, storytelling, and brand development—especially within sensitive, trauma-informed spaces.

Board members provide strategic guidance, governance, and oversight while helping ensure Break Free’s voice is clear, compassionate, and impactful. In this role, you will help shape how we communicate our mission, connect with our audience, and expand awareness of survivor support resources.

Because Break Free is in an early growth phase, we are currently operating as a working board.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Advising on messaging, brand voice, and communication strategy
    • Supporting the development of awareness campaigns and outreach efforts
    • Providing guidance on content strategy across social media, website, and email
    • Helping ensure communications are trauma-informed, respectful, and accessible
    • Offering feedback on marketing materials, campaigns, and public-facing content
    • Participating in board meetings, strategic planning, and key decisions

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in marketing, communications, branding, public relations, or related field
    • Strong understanding of storytelling and audience engagement
    • Ability to think strategically about growth and visibility
    • Sensitivity to trauma-informed communication and survivor-centered messaging
    • Passion for supporting survivors and mission-driven work

This is a volunteer, remote-friendly position. Board members are not responsible for day-to-day posting or content creation, but rather guiding strategy and strengthening overall communications.

Time commitment: Approximately 3–6 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings.
