    These classes run Friday evenings 6PM - 10PM, Saturdays and Sundays 8:30AM - 4:30PM.

    The CERT training is a FEMA certified course. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must attend all 20 hours of training.

    Classes are held at 2430 S. 22nd Ave, Phoenix Fire Department Special Operations Building unless otherwise indicated.

    After the Basic class, you will be able to help your family, friends, neighbors and workplace in case of an unplanned incident.

    Further volunteer events would be available after additional training and a background check. The additional training is provided free and taught by members of PFD and PPD.

    When you complete the Basic Training, you will be considered what is known as a Type 5, There are 3 in-person trainings and 5 online trainings to complete to be background checked and made a Type 4. Type 4 can do some deployable events. Type 4's are issued an equipment pack and uniforms. There are further in-person classes to complete to be a Type 3 which is a fully deployable member with an ID card.

    These additional trainings can be completed in 3-6 months' time, depending on the course offering schedule and your attendance availability. During this time there are activities that are available for you to take part in so that you may become more familiar with the CERT group and its mission.

    How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    After completing the Basic class, you will be invited to join our program if you wish. Phoenix CERT assists Phoenix Fire, Police and the City in general with events such as the Heat Ready program, as well as missing person and evidence searches with Phoenix PD.
