Volunteer Responsibilities
Make a difference—simply by being present.
Project Details
What You’ll Do
Our volunteers focus on providing comfort through companionship. Even the smallest moments can carry great meaning. You may:
- Sit and simply be present
- Offer a listening ear or share conversation
- Read aloud, tell stories, or write letters
- Play games or listen to music together
- Take a short walk (when appropriate)
- Provide brief respite for caregivers
- Lead simple activities in care facilities
- Participate in pet therapy visits
- Support office or administrative needs
At its core, this role is about one thing: being a friend.
What Volunteers Do Not Do
To ensure clarity and comfort, volunteers are not responsible for:
- Medical care or clinical tasks
- Assisting with mobility or transfers
- Transportation of patients
- Personal care (bathing, toileting)
Experience & Training
No prior experience is necessary. Rocky Mountain Hospice provides free, comprehensive training to help you feel confident, prepared, and supported as you begin your volunteer journey.
Flexible Commitment
We know life is busy—and we value any time you can share. There are no minimum hour requirements. Whether you visit weekly or stop by when you can, your presence matters.
We offer flexible scheduling and will work with you to find a placement that fits your location, comfort level, and availability.
