    Description

We are looking for mission-driven volunteers who genuinely care about helping families secure safe, stable housing. If you already have experience with NYC housing vouchers (CityFHEPS, Section 8, FHEPS, EHV, NYCHA, etc.), your expertise is deeply needed. If you do not have experience but have a strong heart for service, patience, and consistency, we will welcome you and train you using our simple digital tools.

Our nonprofit provides virtual housing navigation to New York City families who rely on vouchers but face delays, confusion, discrimination, and communication gaps with agencies. Volunteers help tenants stay organized, complete paperwork correctly, and avoid losing their housing opportunity.

As a Virtual Housing Navigator, you will:

    • Guide families step-by-step through their documents and voucher requirements
    • Help explain inspections, compliance, and deadlines in simple language
    • Provide digital support through phone, text, email, or video
    • Participate in virtual follow-up calls and community workshops
    • Advocate as a mediator and community liaison so families are not ignored or lost in the process

This role is perfect for people who:

    • Already have voucher experience (case management, shelter work, real estate, advocacy, HRA/DHS/NYCHA background)
    • OR have no experience but have a strong desire to serve and learn
    • OR want real-world experience in social service, housing advocacy, or public policy
    • OR want to join a grassroots team committed to equity and stability

This is an unpaid volunteer role, but volunteers gain:

    • Hands-on skills in NYC housing navigation
    • Experience that strengthens résumés for social work, nonprofit, or public service careers
    • The chance to be part of a movement addressing the affordable housing crisis
    • A community of people working toward fairness, dignity, and long-term housing stability

If you want to help families and grow your own skills this is a meaningful way to make a real difference.
