Local and State Advocacy Volunteer for Alabama

    Organization: Invisible Warriors

    Location: Alabama

Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per month

    About Invisible Warriors:

Invisible Warriors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women veterans who are dealing with PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and other invisible illnesses. Our mission is to provide resources, advocacy, and a supportive community for women who have served in the military.

    Position Description:

Our current mission is to gain recognition for Women Veterans Recognition Day as a federally recognized holiday. This day, observed on June 12th, marks the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. While several states acknowledge this day, Alabama is not yet among them. We aim to change that, and we need your help.

We're seeking passionate individuals to assist us in raising awareness with both the state government and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This volunteer role offers a unique chance to experience how positive change happens at the government level. It's an ideal opportunity for those interested in public service, veterans' affairs, or government relations.

While this is an unpaid position, the experience and skills you'll gain are invaluable. Moreover, we collaborate with the President's Volunteer Service Award program. By dedicating your time and effort, you may earn recognition in the form of certificates, plaques, or other awards.

This volunteer role will provide you with:

    1. Hands-on experience in advocacy and government relations
    2. The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on veterans' lives
    3. Valuable additions to college applications and future resumes
    4. Potential recognition through the President's Volunteer Service Award program

We believe that you have the power to create significant change. If you're ready to take on this challenge and be part of something truly impactful, we'd love to have you join our team.
