    Description

Turn Recognition Into Action: Advocacy Volunteer (Alabama)

Proclamations, civic recognition, and a seat at the table for women veterans, this is where being seen turns into being counted. If you know how Alabama's local and state channels work, you can move this.

Invisible Warriors made Alabama the 21st state to recognize the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act, and that's just the start. Recognition is our foundation: you can't support women veterans if civic leaders and the public don't know they're there. This role carries that work to city halls and the statehouse.

    What you'd actually be doing:

    • Research advocacy openings and recognition opportunities across Alabama

    • Help pursue proclamations and civic recognition for women veterans

    • Build relationships with local and state officials and partners

    • Prepare simple briefs, requests, and follow-ups

Who we're looking for: you understand local or state government, or you're a confident communicator willing to learn it. You're organized and comfortable reaching out to officials. You don't need to be a veteran. Neither is our founder.

The commitment: a few hours a week, mostly remote with some in-person meetings and events, heavier around legislative dates. One honest ask: if you can't follow through on outreach and deadlines, please don't apply. Advocacy runs on timing, and a dropped thread is an opportunity gone.

Why it's worth your time: you'll help turn quiet service into public recognition, the kind that tells the next generation of women that serving here is valued.
