WE BUILD PROGRAM - BECOME A MENTOR FOR FLORIDA SPECIAL OLYMPICS!

I’m excited to share a very special volunteer opportunity in the St. Petersburg area with Special Olympics Florida’s WE BUILD program.

They are looking for a caring, encouraging mentor to walk alongside an Athlete Leader as they prepare for meaningful employment in a healthcare setting. Over approximately 12 weeks, the mentor will help the participant build workplace skills, confidence, independence, and explore possible career paths such as Guest Services, Food & Nutrition, Environmental Services, Supply Chain, Transportation, and more.

What they are looking for:

• A commitment of approximately 10–15 hours per week
• Patience, encouragement, and a willingness to share your own life and professional experience
• Someone who can provide hands-on support and help the participant grow more confident and independent in the workplace

You do not need to be a teacher or have special mentoring experience. What matters most is your presence, encouragement, and the experience you have gained throughout your own life and career.

The next group is expected to begin around September 10, and they are also building a pool of mentors for future opportunities if you are interested but cannot commit right now.
