    This role offers flexibility and can be done both onsite and remotely depending on needs. A commitment of 10 - 20 hours per week is preferred. Not all weeks will be 20 hours, but there are busy times that might require up to 20 hours per week.

    Volunteer Coordinator (Non-Paid Position)

    The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, scheduling and supporting volunteers across all program areas. This role ensures volunteers feel appreciated, informed, and empowered to help our mission succeed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, loves working with people, and shares our passion for wildlife conservation.

    About Us

    Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned birds of prey, and to educating the public about wildlife conservation. Our success depends on a passionate team of volunteers who help care for birds, support events, assist with programs, and more. We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help expand and support our growing volunteer community.

    Responsibilities

    • Recruit new volunteers through community outreach, social media, and events
    • Manage volunteer applications, onboarding paperwork, and orientation
    • Train or organize training for volunteers in collaboration with animal care staff
    • Schedule volunteers for daily facility operations, events, and educational programs
    • Maintain volunteer records, attendance, and hours tracking
    • Communicate regularly with volunteers to provide updates, guidelines, and recognition
    • Plan volunteer appreciation initiatives and team-building activities
    • Serve as a point of contact for volunteer concerns, questions, and support
    • Ensure all volunteers follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements
    • Attend weekly or monthly staff meetings as needed

    Qualifications

    • Passion for wildlife rescue and environmental education
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
    • Comfort with email, spreadsheets, and basic digital tools
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Prior volunteer management experience (preferred but not required)
