Be A Cut Above! - Lawn Mowing Opportunities
Details
Description
There's a feeling you get when you donate your time, especially assisting an older neighbor who cannot, unaided, complete the task on their own.
Family Service Rochester is looking for volunteers to join up in helping our elderly neighbors, the disabled, and military veterans with essential lawn mowing this summer. This simple task can help our older neighbors "age in place" in the homes and community they know and love.
You only need the desire to help and the physical capabilities to mow!
Volunteers are matched with an older adult and assist that specific homeowner for the summer. This program helps your neighbors to stay safe and independent in their homes!
Some homeowners have lawnmowers for volunteers to use and others don’t. If you don’t have your own, or can’t transport one, we’ll match you with someone that has a mower!
Lawn mowing is usually completed every 7-14 days, depending on the amount of rain, how fast or slow the grass is growing, etc. If you know that you’ll be out of town or unavailable for a period of time, let us know, and we will find an alternate volunteer to help mow during that time.
Don't have the capacity to commit to the whole summer? That's just fine! Let us know when you're available to help mow, and we will add you to our 'subs' list!
