On behalf of GRTC Transit System, we are pleased to share details about our upcoming TAP Into Transit Day, a community fundraising event taking place on:
Date: July 14, 2026
Time: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Location: Main Street Station, 1500 E. Main Street, Richmond, VA
TAP Into Transit Day is a regional celebration and fundraiser supporting the Transit Access Partnership (TAP)—an initiative dedicated to sustaining Open Access (fare-free) transit across Central Virginia.
This event will bring together GRTC riders, community partners, local businesses, artists, advocates, and regional leaders to highlight the impact public transportation has on connecting people to jobs, healthcare, education, and everyday opportunities.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
Volunteers will play a key role in helping ensure a smooth, welcoming, and engaging experience for all attendees. Duties may include:
- Event Setup & Breakdown
- Assist with setting up tables, signage, auction displays, and registration areas
- Help with post-event cleanup and breakdown
- Guest Check-In & Welcome
- Greet attendees and provide a welcoming experience
- Assist with registration or check-in as needed
- Distribute event materials or programs
- Silent Auction Support
- Help monitor auction tables
- Answer basic questions about auction items
- Assist guests with bid sheets or mobile bidding (if applicable)
- Event Support & Wayfinding
- Direct guests to different areas (auction, food trucks, restrooms, bus tours, etc.)
- Support event staff with general logistics and crowd flow
- Activity & Engagement Assistance
- Support interactive activities such as bus tours or community engagement stations
- Assist vendors, artists, or staff as needed
Volunteer Requirements
- Friendly, reliable, and willing to assist where needed
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Ability to stand and move around during the event
