    Florida Youth At Risk: Achieving Readiness (FYAR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth ages 12–25 through creative arts, mentorship, and workforce development. We provide safe, inspiring spaces for young people to dream, connect, and grow, helping them build skills, confidence, and opportunities for a brighter future.

    FYAR is seeking a detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Volunteer to support the organization's financial operations and reporting. This role is ideal for accounting professionals, finance students, bookkeepers, or individuals seeking hands-on nonprofit finance experience while making a meaningful impact in the community.

    The volunteer will work closely with organizational leadership to help maintain accurate financial records, support budgeting activities, monitor expenses, and assist with financial reporting and compliance requirements.

    • Maintain and organize financial records and supporting documentation.
    • Record, categorize, and track income, expenses, and financial transactions using QuickBooks Online.
    • Assist with account reconciliations and monthly financial reviews.
    • Support the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and financial summaries.
    • Monitor project and program expenditures to ensure proper allocation of funds.
    • Assist with accounts payable and payment tracking.
    • Review financial data for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
    • Support grant reporting and donor-related financial documentation.
    • Help strengthen financial procedures and internal controls.
    • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial information.
    • Collaborate with leadership to ensure timely completion of finance-related tasks.

    Ideal Skills or Candidate

    • Experience with QuickBooks Online.
    • Understanding of accounting principles and nonprofit financial practices.
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is preferred.
    • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar financial software.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team.
    • Experience preparing financial reports is preferred.
    • A background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
    • Passion for community service and supporting organizational growth.
