    Reports To: School Director / Communications Coordinator

    Position Summary

    Open Doors Academy is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Volunteer School Announcements Advocate to help communicate important school information, events, opportunities, and community messages to students, families, volunteers, and staff.

    The volunteer will help ensure that school announcements are accurate, timely, positive, and accessible to the entire school community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and deliver approved school announcements.
    • Share information about school events, programs, deadlines, and activities.
    • Promote student opportunities, resources, and volunteer activities.
    • Assist with announcements through email, newsletters, virtual meetings, and other approved communication channels.
    • Coordinate with school leadership to ensure announcements are accurate and appropriate.
    • Maintain an organized school announcement calendar.
    • Encourage students and families to participate in Academy activities.
    • Collect approved announcements from staff and volunteers.
    • Proofread announcements for clarity and professionalism.
    • Protect confidential student and family information.
    • Report questions or concerns to the School Director or designated administrator.

    Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Professional and positive attitude.
    • Dependable and organized.
    • Comfortable using email and basic online communication platforms.
    • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
    • Interest in education, communications, advocacy, or community outreach.
    • Previous school, nonprofit, communications, or volunteer experience is helpful but not required.
