    Position Summary

    The Veterans Wellness Coach/Therapist provides supportive guidance, emotional wellness coaching and connection opportunities for veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders, and their families. This role focuses on fostering resilience, community engagement, personal growth, and meaningful connections while helping participants access appropriate resources and support services.

    The Therapist/Coach will collaborate with the Foundation’s leadership and volunteers to develop programs, facilitate discussions, and create safe environments where veterans can build relationships, share experiences, and strengthen their overall well-being

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate support groups, workshops, and wellness programs
    • Create opportunities for veterans to connect with one another through community building activities
    • Develop and lead discussions focused on resilience, life transitions, stress management, purpose and personal growth
    • Assist veterans in identifying strengths, goals, and available community resources
    • Collaborate with Foundation staff and volunteers to design programs that promote engagement and belonging
    • Support veterans experiencing challenges related to employment, relationships, grief, isolation, reintegration, or life transitions
    • Provide referrals to licensed mental health professionals, crisis resources, or community agencies when appropriate
    • Coordinate weekly veterans support gatherings
    • Participate in Foundation events, outreach activities, Foundation All Hands meetings and veterans support initiatives
    • Maintain confidential records and uphold professional ethical standars

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Licensed Therapist, Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist (depending on program requirements)
    • Experience working with veterans, military families, first responders, or trauma-informed population preferred
    • Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to facilitate both individual and group interactions
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
    • Compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive approach

    Preferred

    • Knowledge of military culture and veteran-related challenges
    • Experience facilitating support groups or wellness workshops
    • Familiarity with community resources available to veterans and their families
    • Experience with grief support, life coaching, resilience training, mindfulness, stress management or peer-support models

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible schedule
    • Approximately 12-15 hours per month depending on program needs and availability
    • Participation in periodic meetings, veterans events, and workshops

    Note: This position is intended to provide coaching, wellness support, education, and connection opportunities. Clinical mental health treatment services, diagnosis, and crisis intervention must be performed only by appropriate licensed professionals and within the scope of their licensure
