Do you enjoy art - drawing, painting, etc. with others... we have the opportunity for you!
We have recently launched an Art as Therapy program as part of our Assisteo Hospice Volunteer program. We are beginning to build a team around the valley to go into skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and rehab centers to offer basic art sessions for residents.
Art has been shown to provide immense encouragement and inspiration. It can improve quality of life, bring joy and improve mental and physical health. Who doesn’t want that? Art has also been known to reduce some symptoms and provides a way for patients to express their emotions.
Additionally, Assisteo Hospice is a Veteran centric hospice in the greater Phoenix area. Over half of our patients served in the military. It’s a privilege for us to serve these men and women on their end-of-life journey. Though our administrative office is located in Phoenix, we provide care over most of Maricopa County.
Along with the top-notch clinical care we provide to all our patients, we also have a robust Volunteer Program. We provide patients and families with companionship visits, music as therapy, pet as therapy, and now our new art as therapy. Additionally, our Volunteer Program also includes a group of amazing crafters that make a wide variety of items as gifts for patients. These are always a HUGE hit and bring lots of smiles!
If our new Art as Therapy program is of interest to you, please reach out. I can provide additional details, answer questions, share what we've done so far with the art, etc.
