Description
Make a Difference in the Life of an Older Adult
Providence Pace is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide friendly companionship to older adults living in the Des Moines area. A simple visit, conversation, shared activity, or phone call can help reduce social isolation and bring meaningful connection to someone's day.
Volunteer Activities May Include:
- Friendly conversation and social visits
- Listening to music together
- Playing simple games or activities
- Sharing hobbies and interests
- Reading, crafts, or light recreational activities
- Phone or virtual companionship (for select opportunities)
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Friendly, patient, and dependable
- Comfortable interacting with older adults
- Able to maintain participant confidentiality
- Complete Providence volunteer onboarding requirements, including background screening and training
Commitment:
- Flexible scheduling
- Typically, 1–2 hours per week
- In-person and select virtual opportunities available
