About and Impact:
Norwood Crossing is a senior living community located in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood. We are seeking a volunteer to assist the Dietary Office with helping our residents to select their menu choices.
Time Commitment:
The time commitment is semi flexible but must be the same day/time each week -choose between 2 to 4 hours a week, preferably Wednesdays or Thursdays , with shifts available in the morning (9:00 am - 11:45 am) or afternoon (12:30 pm - 5:00 pm).
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents in understanding the menu options and making meal selections based on their preferences and dietary needs.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude, ensuring residents feel valued and cared for.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and take direction from staff.
Qualifications:
- Compassionate and friendly demeanor with a genuine interest in helping others.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with elderly individuals.
- Must be comfortable working with the elderly and disabled. Patience and understanding when working with residents who may have cognitive or physical challenges.
- Prior experience in a caregiving or volunteer role is a plus, but not required.
