    The Donovan’s Venom

Remote | Executive Leadership | Volunteer

We’re Building — And It Has to Be Played

    The Donovan’s Venom is evolving.

    Not just programs.

    Not just content.

    Experiences.

    Experiences people can interact with.

    Learn from.

    Come back to.

We are building our flagship educational game —

The Donovan’s Piano Room — and we need someone to lead it.

We are seeking a Director of Interactive Media to define, build, and scale our game development studio.

    Because learning isn’t just taught.

    It’s experienced.

    The Role

This is the leader responsible for building and running our Interactive Media Studio.

From concept → gameplay → development → release → iteration — you own it.

You are not just managing projects.

You are building a scalable game development pipeline and product ecosystem.

This role operates at both a creative and technical level, ensuring high-quality, mission-aligned interactive experiences.

    What You’ll Own

    Studio Leadership & Vision

      • Lead the Interactive Media Studio as a full production unit
      • Define creative direction for all interactive products
      • Align gameplay, user experience, and educational impact

    Product Ownership – Game Development

      • Own development of:
      • The Donovan’s Piano Room (flagship game)
      • Define:
      • Core features
      • Expansion roadmap
      • Iteration cycles
      • Ensure balance between:
      • Engagement
      • Learning outcomes
      • Technical feasibility

    Production Pipeline & Development

      • Build and manage full game development lifecycle:
      • Concept
      • Design & prototyping
      • Development
      • QA/testing
      • Release cycles
      • Implement structured workflows (Agile, sprint cycles)
      • Ensure timelines, milestones, and delivery

    Technical & Creative Oversight

      • Oversee:
      • Game systems and mechanics
      • UX/UI design
      • Technical architecture
      • Ensure alignment across:
      • Art
      • Design
      • Engineering

    Team Leadership & Development

      • Lead a multidisciplinary team (designers, engineers, artists, QA)
      • Define roles, workflows, and expectations
      • Support recruitment and development of contributors

    Strategic Growth & Studio Expansion

      • Build roadmap for studio growth
      • Identify opportunities for:
      • New game products

      • Strategic partnerships

    Funding & External Engagement

      • Support funding strategies:
      • Grants
      • Sponsorships
      • Partnerships
      • Contribute to pitch decks and product demos
      • Represent the organization at industry events

    Cross-Division Integration

      • Align with:
      • Animation & Media (shared storytelling/IP)
      • Educational Products (content integration)
      • EdTech Platform (data and platform integration)
      • Ensure games are part of a connected learning ecosystem

    Performance & Continuous Improvement

      • Track:
      • Development milestones
      • User engagement
      • Feedback and retention
      • Improve product and production systems

    Who This Is For

This role is for someone who:

      • Thinks in games, systems, and player experience
      • Can lead both creative and technical teams
      • Understands how to build games from concept → release
      • Can balance fun, learning, and feasibility
      • Wants to build something that scales and lasts

    Qualifications

    Required

      • Experience with full-cycle game development
      • Strong understanding of:
