For The One is a nonprofit committed to advancing human dignity through ethical, mission-aligned storytelling. We are seeking a Volunteer Visual Storyteller (Photo & Video) to help document and communicate our work through compelling photography and video—both domestically and internationally as needed.

This role plays a key part in helping supporters, partners, and the public understand the impact of our mission. Opportunities are project-based and as needed, with flexible involvement depending on availability and organizational needs.

    Responsibilities

    • Capture high-quality photography and video during events, programs, and partner engagements
    • Collaborate with staff to align visuals with storytelling and communication goals
    • Follow ethical, trauma-informed storytelling practices, especially when working with vulnerable populations
    • Organize, manage, and deliver visual assets in agreed formats and timelines
    • Support content needs for websites, reports, social media, and fundraising materials

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience with photography and videography (professional, academic, or volunteer experience accepted)
    • Strong eye for visual storytelling and composition
    • Ability to work respectfully in diverse cultural and environmental contexts
    • Flexible schedule and ability to support projects on an as-needed basis
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally when requested (travel not guaranteed)

    Preferred

    • Experience with nonprofit, documentary, or mission-driven storytelling
    • Basic photo and/or video editing skills
    • Ability to work independently in the field while coordinating with a remote team

    Equipment Expectations

Volunteers are expected to provide their own equipment, including:

    • A DSLR or mirrorless camera capable of capturing high-resolution photos
    • Video capability suitable for interviews and field documentation
    • At least one versatile lens (prime or zoom)
    • Basic audio solution for video (on-camera mic or lavalier preferred)
    • Sufficient storage (memory cards, hard drive) and backup practices
    • Ability to transfer files digitally (cloud upload or secure file sharing)

Drone experience or additional gear is welcome but not required.

    Other Information

    • This is a volunteer, project-based role with no guaranteed hours
    • International travel opportunities will be coordinated in advance
