Alleviate a Family's Hunger - Pack Grocery Bags in Elkins Park
Details
Description
Do you want to help alleviate food insecurity in your neighborhood? Contribute between 2 - 10 hours a month and help put healthy food on your neighbor's dinner tables.
The Mitzvah Food Program of Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia distributes food to more than 300 families a month to anyone in need, regardless of race, income, gender, age, or religion. We need help organizing, streamlining, and distributing food, assisting our older adult clients by carrying the food to their cars, and chipping in where necessary.
Opportunities are available on:
- Mondays from 1 - 5 pm in 2-3 hour shifts, packing grocery and fresh produce bags (bags weigh between 8 - 15 pounds)
- Tuesdays from 1 - 5pm in 2 - 3 hour shifts, packing grocery and fresh produce bags (bags weigh between 8 - 15 pounds)
- Wednesdays from 10 am - 5 pm in 2 - 3 hour shifts, delivering groceries to clients (bags weigh up to 20 pounds; must have your own car). Client names, phone numbers, and delivery instructions are provided.
- Thursdays from 8 am - 1 pm in 2 - 3 hour shifts unloading food deliveries and stocking shelves (boxes weigh up to 24 pounds)
