    Description

Inspired by Plant A Row for the Hungry, an initiative started in 1995 by the Garden Writers Association, we are planting a "market" garden to supplement donations received by our pantry for our clients.

Tasks will include mulching, forming compost piles, weeding, sowing seed, watering, etc.

Volunteers are welcome to come Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. Weekends are the busiest days of the week for us. Saturday is our distribution day for our clients and on Sunday the church uses the entire facility for their acitivities all day. Friday we are closed.

"According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1 in 8 households in the United States experiences hunger or the risk of hunger. Many frequently skip meals or eat too little, sometimes going without food for an entire day. Approximately 33 million people, including 13 million children, have substandard diets or must resort to seeking emergency food because they cannot always afford the food they need. The demand for hunger assistance has increased by 70% in recent years."
