    Description

Volunteer Marketing & Social Media Lead

Pathway to Home - Rome/Floyd County, Georgia

Pathway to Home is seeking a creative and compassionate Volunteer Marketing & Social Media Lead to help us build awareness, understanding, and community support for solutions to homelessness in Rome and Floyd County.

Pathway to Home is a local nonprofit working to create safe, supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. We believe stable housing is foundational to survival, dignity, healing, and the ability to participate fully in our community.

    The Opportunity

Our goal is to develop and launch a coordinated six-month community education and social media campaign focused on changing the way our community understands homelessness and the people who experience it.

We are not expecting one volunteer to do everything. We are looking for someone who can help us shape and lead the campaign, identify the most effective ways to tell these stories, build a practical content plan, and work with other volunteers and community partners to bring the content to life.

The campaign would focus on three primary themes:

    1. Changing the Narrative About Homelessness

Help us dispel common myths, stereotypes, biases, and misunderstandings about people experiencing homelessness. Through facts, personal stories, interviews, and educational content, we want to help our community see the person rather than the circumstance.

    1. Housing as a Basic Human Need

Communicate why safe, stable housing is essential to human survival, dignity, health, and participation in society - not simply a conditional privilege someone must first earn. Housing provides the foundation from which people can address employment, health, recovery, relationships, and other challenges.

    1. Telling the Story of Housing First

Help educate our community about the Housing First approach and why providing stable housing before requiring someone to resolve every other challenge can be an effective pathway out of chronic homelessness. We want to share research, stories, and real-world examples showing how housing and supportive services can help people regain stability, dignity, independence, and purpose.

    What We Hope to Create

Working with Pathway to Home leadership and community partners, this volunteer could help guide the development of:

    • Short educational and inspirational videos
    • Social media posts and graphics
    • Interviews with community leaders and service providers
    • Stories that humanize homelessness
    • Myth-versus-fact educational content
    • Short podcasts or community conversations
    • A practical six-month social media/content calendar
    • Opportunities for community discussion and engagement

The first phase would be planning and launching the campaign. Individual pieces of content can be created with the help of additional volunteers, partners, and community members as the effort grows.

    Building Community Participation

An important part of this campaign will be inviting the Rome/Floyd County community into the conversation. We hope to engage local residents, churches, businesses, nonprofits, service providers, educators, and community leaders - encouraging people to learn, ask questions, share ideas, and become part of creating solutions to homelessness in our community.

Our goal is not simply to promote an organization. Our goal is to start a conversation that can change hearts, minds, and ultimately lives.

    Who We Are Looking For

We would welcome someone with experience or interest in marketing, communications, social media, storytelling, video production, journalism, public relations, podcasting, or community engagement.

Just as important, we are looking for someone who believes in treating every person with dignity and compassion and who wants to use their talents to make a meaningful difference in our community.

Pathway to Home already brings the mission, community relationships, ideas, and subject matter. We are looking for a communications-minded partner who can help us turn that foundation into an effective public conversation.

As Pathway to Home grows, we also hope this outreach will help us connect with individuals and organizations who share our vision and may eventually become volunteers, partners, supporters, contributors, or organizational leaders.

This is an opportunity to help shape the voice of a growing nonprofit at an important point in its development and to help Rome/Floyd County better understand both homelessness and the solutions that can move people toward stable and thriving lives.

Together, we can change the conversation about homelessness - and help create a pathway home.
