Student Volunteers for Hospice - Dayton

High school and college students: do you have a desire to connect and develop friendships with the elderly? Want real life experience in the healthcare or social services field? Want to help others at a time of need? Would you enjoy meeting new people, reading books aloud, playing music on your phone, and sharing about life with the elderly? Then you should consider serving as a hospice volunteer!

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the elderly community living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities have often had very few visitors or family members to connect with over the past two years. Bella Care Hospice is looking for student volunteers to serve the elderly and offer companionship. Our patients love having a young person visit and encourage them!

The requirements are simple, if you are 16 or older and have at least 2-4 hours each month to serve then you would be eligible. We ask that all interested volunteers go through a brief interview and fill out application before going through an orientation. Bella Care Hospice will pay for a background check and 2-step TB test for each volunteer.

We have several opportunities throughout the Dayton area that we can assign you to serve so that it will be convenient. You do not need specific experience or skills to offer companionship: we will provide training.
