    Description

    About the Role

The Volunteer Financial Coordinator keeps ICA's day-to-day finances accurate, organized, and on time. Working hand in hand with the Executive Director, this volunteer manages routine financial activity, tracks donor and sponsorship funds, and prepares clear reports for leadership and the Board. It is a hands-on role for someone who wants to put their finance skills to work

    What You'll Do

    Day-to-Day Finance

    • Record income and expenses accurately and keep financial records organized and current.
    • Process and track invoices, bills, and reimbursements, and flag anything that needs Executive Director approval.
    • Reconcile bank and payment accounts monthly.
    • Help maintain simple, consistent financial procedures and files.

    Donors and Sponsorships

    • Track donations, pledges, and sponsorship commitments from receipt to acknowledgment.
    • Prepare donor acknowledgment and tax receipt information on time.
    • Keep donor and sponsor records accurate and reconciled with the books.
    • Support the Executive Director with sponsorship invoicing and follow-up.

    Operations Support

    • Partner with the Executive Director on any finance needs that come up in daily operations.
    • Help monitor cash flow and raise early concerns.
    • Recommend practical improvements to ICA's financial tools and processes.

    What You Bring

    • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit finance.
    • Comfort with accounting software such as QuickBooks and with Excel or Google Sheets.
    • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment with confidential information.
    • Clear communication with non-finance colleagues and Board members.
    • Reliability and follow-through as a self-directed volunteer.
    • Nice to have: experience with donor databases, grant tracking, or nonprofit audits.

    Why Volunteer with ICA

    • Make a direct impact on ICA's mission and its ability to serve children.
    • Work closely with the Executive Director and gain exposure to Board-level governance.
    • Build nonprofit finance experience and a strong reference for your career.
