Content Creator

Position description

The Content Creator develops original, engaging content that helps amplify the Women in Science PDX mission across digital platforms. Whether creating short-form videos, educational posts, photo series, or other creative content, you'll make science and STEM more accessible, relatable, and engaging for a broad audience. While content should align with the WIS PDX mission and brand, creators have the freedom to explore topics they're passionate about and experiment with new storytelling formats. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating content, communicating science, and building an online audience.

Key Position Responsibilities

• Create original content that supports the WIS PDX mission, including short-form videos, educational posts, photo series, and other digital media.
• Identify engaging STEM topics, trends, and ideas that resonate with WIS PDX audiences.
• Use AI tools to brainstorm ideas, draft scripts, or refine content while maintaining an authentic voice.
• Collaborate with the Communications Chair or Social Media Strategist to ensure content aligns with organizational priorities and brand guidelines.
• Stay informed about emerging content trends and recommend new formats, platforms, or creative approaches.
• Organize and submit completed content according to WIS PDX workflows.
• Attend monthly Communications Committee meetings.

Ideal Experience

We're looking for curious, creative people who enjoy making content and sharing ideas. Helpful experience includes:
