Description
Can you imagine being stuck in your home most, if not every day of the week? Many of our homebound clients are isolated and lonely, unable to get out of their homes to maintain important relationships or socialize. Volunteer visitors are a welcome respite and a chance to connect with the world outside their homes. Volunteers are matched with a client for a weekly visit. Matches spend their time talking, playing cards, working on puzzles, taking a walk, crafting or sharing other hobbies and interests. This is an amazing opportunity to get to know a fascinating person who grew up in a different generation.
Similar to Companionship volunteers, Respite volunteers provide a regular break for a spouse or family member from their 24/7 caretaking responsibilities. Respite volunteers sit with a loved one and keep him/her company so his/her loved one can go out for errand, grocery shopping or to his/her own medical appointment.
Community Caregiver clients live in 7 towns in the Greater Derry, NH area: Derry, Londonderry, Hampstead, Danville, Sandown, and Chester. Volunteers need to reliably travel to the client's home on a regular basis.
