    Description

Love Reading and Superheroes? Help a young student with readings from Marvel's Avengers characters

    Love reading? Love superheroes?

We’re bringing literacy and Marvel magic together through characters from Marvel’s “The Avengers.” 🦸📖

In just four weeks, watch hesitant readers grow into confident storytellers by stepping inside Marvel’s The Avengers.

Become a Literacy Coach with United Voices of Literacy, Inc.

Our Readers Are Leaders program pairs volunteers one-on-one with students in grades 3–7 who are reading below grade level. Through guided reading and reader’s theater, you’ll help a student build confidence, fluency, and joy in reading. Your role will be to assist one student over 4 weeks (8 hours total) to read a script of one of the Avengers characters. You will help them bring the character to life for a live recorded reading in May which will also include your presence.

    What you’ll do:

    • Support one student through script-based reading

    • Help prepare them for a live performance reading on zoom in May

    • Inspire a shy reluctant student to improve literacy skills, find confidence and a joy in reading

    Time Commitment:

    • 1 hour, twice a week (virtual) for 4-weeks in May

    • Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday 4-5pm

    • Brief 30-minute tutor training

    Training Included:

    No teaching experience required—just heart.

    Requirements:

    Background check (covered by us)

✨ Be the reason a student finds their inner hero.
