VillageCo is seeking dedicated and creative volunteers to join our Communications Circle. This team is responsible for managing the messaging and creative components of the organization. As a member, you will play a key role in shaping our verbal and visual branding, ensuring our story is told effectively to both external audiences and our internal community.

Watch this short video to hear current Comms Circle members talk about their work.

    Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with the team to manage various aspects of VillageCo’s branding and design:

    • External Relations: Support marketing, publicity, and digital media initiatives, including managing our newsletter and social media channels.
    • Internal Communications: Help craft and deliver communications that support and engage VillageCo members.
    • Project & Policy Development: Participate in creating and refining communications policies, and join specific project teams, sub-circles, or task forces as needed.
    • Active Collaboration: Attend monthly circle meetings, provide feedback on shared work, and complete assigned tasks independently between meetings.

    Desired Qualities & Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about community building and possess the following:

    • A strong passion for communications, strategy, and planning.
    • Experience or background in graphic design, video production, editing, publicity, branding, or internal communications.
    • A passion for or experience in project management.
    • Excellent collaborative skills and a strong desire to work within a team.
    • An interest in engaging with both public audiences and internal members.
    • A commitment to shared decision-making and a willingness to learn sociocracy.

    Time & Schedule Expectations

    • Meeting Schedule: Must be available to attend our monthly meeting, which takes place on the second Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM Pacific Time for 90 minutes.
    • Workflow: Ability to take on assignments and complete work independently between meetings.
    • Term: Open to a longer-term volunteer commitment of 6 months or more.

    Steps to Become a Volunteer

Ready to make an impact? Joining the VillageCo team involves a simple three-step pathway:

    1. Orientation: Attend a Volunteer Orientation to meet some of our team members, learn more about VillageCo, and see if this opportunity feels like a good fit for you.
    2. Visit a Circle: Observe a Circle meeting as a visitor to get a feel for how we organize and work together. If you want to continue, attend a second Circle meeting as a full participant and join as a Member.
    3. Onboarding: Once you have joined a Circle, you'll have a 1:1 onboarding meeting with a volunteer manager to set you up on our software and answer any questions you may have.
