Do you have the hospice heart? Do you want to make a difference in an individual's most vulnerable time while gaining volunteer hours? Alamo Hospice might be the place for you! Our mission is, "No One Dies Alone, Afraid or In Pain." You can help us achieve this goal by changing the lives of those nearing their final stages of life.
Responsibilities
Volunteers may provide companionship and socialization to people living with a serious illness who might be near the end of life. This may look like visiting a patient at their home or nursing home to provide conversation, play card games, listen to music and assist with arts and crafts. Volunteers may help family caregivers in a variety of ways such as light housekeeping and assisting with errands/shopping. Volunteers have the option of volunteering at our office in Boerne and Kerrville, Texas helping with administrative work such as answering phones and filing. Volunteers can also help and gain hours through our weekly welcome and tuck in calls to the patients and/or caregivers. These phone calls can be made at our office or from the volunteer's home.
