    Description

    Role Overview

    The Fiscal Sponsorship Program Volunteer supports the development, structure, and integrity of the organization’s fiscal sponsorship program. This role helps ensure sponsored projects are onboarded responsibly, operate in compliance with program standards, and align with the mission and values of the organization, with particular attention to leadership accountability and descendant centered principles.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Development & Infrastructure

    • Create and manage a fiscal sponsor newsletter to communicate updates, deadlines, and resources

    • Design and document a clear onboarding process for new fiscal sponsored projects

    • Assist with the development of a verification process to confirm majority Descendant leadership status within sponsored organizations

    • Help assess and recommend a sustainable and transparent fee structure for fiscal sponsorship

    Onboarding & Support

    • Support onboarding of new fiscal sponsored projects, including documentation, expectations, and timelines

    • Develop onboarding materials such as checklists, welcome packets, and orientation guides

    • Serve as a point of support for sponsored projects during early stages

    Monitoring & Compliance

    • Help design systems to monitor sponsored programs and projects for compliance with fiscal sponsorship agreements

    • Support the development of reporting tools and review processes

    • Assist in ensuring programs meet financial, governance, and mission aligned requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with nonprofit operations, fiscal sponsorship, or organizational development

    • Strong organizational and written communication skills

    • Ability to work with sensitive information with discretion and care

    • Interest in descendant centered advocacy, accountability, and ethical nonprofit practices

    • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a mission driven environment

    Training & Support

    Orientation to the organization’s mission and fiscal sponsorship goals

    • Access to templates, policies, and historical documentation

    • Ongoing guidance from organizational leadership
