About BAGLY
Founded in 1980, BAGLY (the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth) is a youth-led, adult-supported social support organization, committed to social justice and creating, sustaining, and advocating for programs, policies, and services for the LGBTQ+ youth community in Massachusetts. Operations at BAGLY’s Community Center
The Community Center functions as a welcoming and resourceful space for LGBTQ+ youth. The Operations team ensures the facility runs smoothly, stays organized and remains fully stocked with resources to meet the needs of the youth. Key spaces within the Community Center include kitchens, general hangout areas, the BAGLY Boutique, the Clinic and supportive supplies closet. Managing the logistics of these spaces is essential to keep the Community Center safe, affirming and accessible.
Operations Volunteer
As an Operations Volunteer, you will work behind the scenes and alongside Program staff to maintain the physical integrity, organization, and welcoming atmosphere of the Community Center. This role is highly dynamic, blending logistics, inventory management, and reporting based on the organization’s needs. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- (60%) Inventory Management: Tracking item usage, updating inventory, stocking items in the Community Center, and reporting information to the Operations Manager.
- (15%) Coordination: Coordinating inquiries received at the Community Center via phone calls and routing callers to appropriate staff and resources.
- (15%) General Logistics: Apart from inventory and coordination, general floor-level operations such as helping the Programs team with logistical needs, reporting any issues within the Community Center to the appropriate staff, and posting signs as needed.
- (10%) Additional Tasks: Assigned by the Operations Manager based on requirements and availability.
General Schedule
Operations Volunteers are needed Monday - Friday from 10 AM - 2 PM.
The Operations Manager will work with the successful applicant to schedule regular work shifts during these time slots based on the volunteer’s availability and capacity. We prefer volunteers to maintain a consistent schedule if possible.
We ask Operations Volunteers to commit to a 6-month period in this position, which may be extended by agreement between the volunteer and the Operations Manager.
