    Description

    Children’s Support Volunteer

    We are seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to support children with disabilities in rural Jinja, Uganda. This is a hands-on role working directly with children in their home environments, alongside a local support team.

    Volunteers will play an important part in encouraging each child’s development, confidence, and independence through daily care, play, and interaction.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support children with activities of daily living, such as feeding and basic self-care
    • Engage children in play, games, and creative activities
    • Encourage social interaction, confidence, and independence
    • Assist staff with simple developmental exercises and routines
    • Help maintain a safe, positive, and supportive environment

    Qualifications:

    • Kind, patient, and compassionate attitude
    • Willingness to learn and adapt
    • Interest in working with children and/or individuals with disabilities
    • No formal experience required (training and guidance provided)
    • If you are a physiotheraptist occupational theraptist this would be incredible but not essential

    Time Commitment:

    1 week to 6 months, we are open to volunteers throughout the year; we do close down for two weeks over Christmas.

    Cost

    We charge $360 per week to cover accommodation at the guest house, three meals a day during the week, two meals a day on the weekend, and program transport.

    As part of the process before we accept you, we will have a brief FaceTime meeting via WhatsApp. Both of your team leaders will join the meeting for a "get to know you" session.

    We would also appreciate some character references before you proceed.

    Our team will review your message and get back to you with more details about the role, availability, and next steps.
