There may be times when mentors need to drive program participants in their personal vehicle. Prior, they must submit proof of current insurance coverage and valid driver's license. Some mentoring sessions may be conducted remotely depending on the needs and preferences of the mentee and mentor.
Benefits:
Volunteers get to be part of Araminta’s mission, create an impact in the lives of survivors, gain hands-on experience, and explore potential pathways to employment with us.
What We’re Looking For:
Special skills include empathy, active listening, reliability, the ability to maintain boundaries, and a basic understanding of trauma-informed care and human trafficking. Certified Volunteer Mentor work is evaluated through the Mentor Manager's evaluations, interactions with care coordinators, regular check-ins with program staff, and adherence to program guidelines and training.
Due to the complex nature of this work, volunteers must be at least 25 years old to serve as mentors, ensuring they bring maturity, life experience, and capacity to support survivors of human-trafficking in a responsible, trauma-informed manner.
Candidates are often motivated to apply because they feel called to invest in someone else, intentionally grow in their own faith, and make a lasting difference through a commitment that extends beyond one year, which is reflected in the organization's Christian values.
Individuals most suited for this role are those with strong Christian values, rooted in the Word of God, led by the Spirit, and actively cultivating the fruit of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. They are willing to walk alongside youth as they grow, become empowered, and step into who God created them to be. Individuals most qualified are those with similar lived experiences, backgrounds in human services, law enforcement, education, or social work may also be especially well-suited for this role.
A candidate who is willing to meet the time commitments is mature, has meaningful life experience, is reliable and disciplined. They understand the importance of consistency for survivors' growth and are prepared to prioritize training, regular meetings and check-ins with mentees and program staff.
