    Description

    Purpose

    Leads recurring recovery projects in affected communities. Serves as the on-site point leader for scheduled volunteer events, ensuring safe, organized, and productive boots on the ground operations.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Commit to consistent availability once per week or once every other week, preferably Saturdays or Sundays

    • Volunteer in 4 to 6 hour blocks and communicate availability in advance

    • Coordinate with Grounded Boots Relief leadership to schedule recovery events

    • Serve as the on-site lead during recovery projects

    • Conduct event briefings at the start of each workday

    • Coordinate directly with property owners to align expectations and scope of work

    • Ensure all volunteers are logged in and accounted for during the event

    • Maintain a clear plan of action for the day’s objectives

    • Monitor work pace, safety, and volunteer wellbeing

    • Close out the site at the end of each event, ensuring tools are secured and debris is staged appropriately

    • Submit a summary of activities, volunteer hours, and outcomes after each event

    Qualifications and Expectations

    • First aid certification required. Certification can be provided at no cost

    • Comfortable leading small volunteer teams in outdoor environments

    • Strong communication skills and ability to set clear expectations

    • Physical competence is helpful and encouraged, though not required

    • Will always have at least one additional volunteer supporting the event

    • Prior site scouting is not required but is beneficial when possible

    • Must maintain professionalism when interacting with homeowners and community members

    • Capable of adapting plans if conditions change

    Role Overview

    This is a steady leadership role focused on follow through. The Long Term Recovery Lead shows up, sets the tone, runs the event, and shuts it down properly. They ensure alignment between Grounded Boots Relief, the property owner, and the volunteer team.

    This role creates continuity. It builds trust with homeowners. It ensures that projects do not stall. It turns good intentions into completed work.
